Lake Kegonsa State Park — Stroughton, Wisconsin

Kegonsa means "lake of many fishes." It is one of southern Wisconsin's most beautiful lakes and state parks. The park contains woodlands, prairies and wetlands for camping, hiking and boating.

I reserved my campsite online at reserveamerica.com so I accidentally reserved a group campsite instead of a standard tent site. As there were no other group campers and the group campsite is separated from the main campgrounds, I had the entire group area to myself. However, a park ranger came by and checked on me periodically and I found I enjoyed the solitude at the end of a long kayak on Lake Kegonsa.
