Lake Vermillion is a 512-acre reservoir, located five miles south of Interstate 90 at exit 374. It is approximately 27 miles west of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Lake Vermillion Recreation Area is a popular area among fishermen, boaters and swimmers. Lake Vermillion is known for its clear waters and abundant fish. I kayaked here on an overcast day and had the most of the lake to myself. Although there are some houses around the lake shoreline, this is a very nice kayaking lake It was not crowded, is well maintained and has excellent camping facilities.. There was a furnished cabin for rent overlooking the lake.
