Sheridan Lake, Black Hills National Forest — South Dakota

I kayaked in the Black Hills of South Dakota near Mount Rushmore at a beautiful small lake called Sheridan Lake. The lake is surrounded by a ponderosa pine forest and has two beaches (called North and South) for kayak launching. There is also a boat ramp and concession stand at the North Sheridan Lake area. This 380-acre lake near Keystone (Route 16 to 385) has clear water and an elevation of 4,600 feet.
