Kayaking in Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island, New York is exhilarating, especially when the tides are taken into consideration. At low tide the launch dock is basically sitting on top of mud and exits must be done on a rocky shore near the launch point. There are many sandy beaches however, which make getting out and resting very nice. |

My kayak travels very well on top of a Chevy Blazer SUV with Thule kayak craddles and a detachable Thule rack system. The kayak has traveled many hundreds of miles like this. Here it is parked in front of our old cottage at Lakeside, Ohio on Lake Erie. |
