The cupola was first gilded in 1715.

Dôme Church and Napoleon's Tomb

The Eglise du Dôme (Church of the Dome). It was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and built between 1677 and 1735. The remains of Napoleon are inside in a series of six coffins, one inside the next.

Jardin des Tuileries

This garden is an integral part of the landscaped area running parallel to the Seine from the Louvre to the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe. The gardens were laid out in the 17th century by André Le Nôtre, royal gardener to Louis XIV.
