The Capitol, Washington, D.C.
This QTVR was shot in Washington, D. C. in January 1998. The Capitol was burned by the British on August 24, 1814. In the 1850s construction of two wings and a new 287-ft.-high dome for the Capitol began. At President Lincoln's insistence, work on the dome, symbol of national solidarity, continued during the American Civil War.
