Multimedia Production Tools


     Multimedia Production Tools is a collection of interactive course modules designed by Diana Schwartz for use by students in the Multimedia Certificate program at New York University's School of Continuing Education.

  1. Multimedia Production Tools Course Syllabus the basic course description with a ten-week plan for learning the necessary software packages, reading assignments, recommended books and CD-ROMS, websites to visit and weekly assignments.

  2. Multimedia Production Tools Bibliography is a list of recommended multimedia and web design books.

  3. Adobe Photoshop How-Tos consist of several sets of instructions on how to use Adobe Photoshop to create useful graphics for web and CD-ROM production. Topics covered include the following:

  4. Color Issues on the Web will help you learn what you need to know to design fast-loading and attractive graphics for the web. This module contains:

  5. Fonts 101 is a basic introduction to Fonts on the Macintosh.

  6. Tools Available on the Web is a list of downloadable Macintosh and Windows tools available on the Web.

  7. Web Sites to Visit will point you to some of the best resources on the Web. Web sites are broken down into the following categories:

  8. HTML Special Character Chart is a chart containing some of the most frequently used special characters and their HTML equivalents.

  9. Macromedia Director Review Notes is a module introducing some of the basic techniques for using Macromedia Director. Items covered and step-by-step instructions are provided for the following:

  10. Lingo Summary is a complete listing of Lingo commands.

  11. Adobe Premiere Review Notes is a module introducing some of the basic techniques for using Adobe Premiere. Items covered and step-by-step instructions are provided for the following: Eight simple steps to moviemaking using Adobe Premiere, Tool Palette summary, Digitizing Video Using the Radius VideoVision Board from within Premiere, Making a Garbage Matte, Masking Techniques and Traveling Mattes.

  12. Digital Sampling Sound Basics and SoundEdit 16 Review Notes are modules introducing some of the basic techniques for using SoundEdit 16. Items covered and step-by-step instructions are provided for the following:

  13. Elastic Reality Review Notes is a module introducing some of the basic techniques for using Elastic Reality morphing software. Items covered and step-by-step instructions are provided for the following:

  14. Logomotion Review Notes is a module introducing some of the basic techniques for using Logomotion. Items covered and step-by-step instructions are provided for the following:

  15. QuickTime VR Site List is a list of QTVR sites.

  16. Multimedia Production Tools CD-ROM Titles List is a list of the CD-ROM titles which will be used throughout the Multimedia Production Tools course to illustrate various multimedia development techniques.

  17. Multimedia Periodicals is an ever-expanding list of multimedia and web publications.

  18. How To Turn Printed Text Into Editable Text is a set of step-by-step instructions for using OmniPage Professional to OCR printed pages.

  19. DVD Technology Overview is a brief introduction to DVD and other related technologies.

  20. Multimedia Team Design is a module introducing some of the basic techniques for using for multimedia team design and working in groups.
